Hospital Presidents

Brooks F. Bock, M.D. was named president of Harper University Hospital and
Hutzel Women’s Hospital in January
2005. Bock, who leads emergency services for the DMC, has been with the health
care system since 1985. He is the Dayanandan professor and chairman of the
department of emergency medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine
and is medical director for the City of Detroit EMS System. Bock earned his
medical degree at Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree from the
University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.

Herman B. Gray, M.D. was named president of Children’s Hospital of Michigan in
August 2005. Gray, a pediatrician and child and family advocate, has a long
history with Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He has held several positions
including pediatric vice chief for education and pediatric residency program
director, chief of staff and chief operating officer. Gray also served as vice
president for graduate medical education at the DMC and associate dean for
graduate medical education at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He
continues to serve as a clinical associate professor in pediatrics. Gray earned
his medical degree from the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor and holds a
physician executive master’s degree in business administration from the
University of Tennessee. |

Frank P. Iacobell was named president of Michigan Orthopaedic
Specialty Hospital in April 2005. Iacobell began his hospital administrative
career at Hutzel Hospital in 1964. Iacobell served as assistant director, chief
operating officer, and president. In addition to building the obstetrics and
gynecology services at Hutzel, he developed a full-service orthopaedic
department, now known as Michigan Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital, in Madison
Heights. In addition to his career at the DMC, he has served as a health care
planning and facility management consultant and past president of Brighton
Hospital. Iacobell holds a master’s degree in business administration from
George Washington University. |

Conrad L. Mallett Jr. is president of Sinai-Grace Hospital. Mallett
joined the DMC in 1999 as senior vice president, chief administrative officer
and general counsel. Previously, he was president and general counsel of Hawkins
Food Group for one year before returning to the DMC as executive vice president
and chief administrative officer. Mallett is a former justice and Chief Justice
for the Michigan Supreme Court. He earned his master’s degree in business
administration from Oakland University , a law degree and master's in public
administration from the University of Southern California , and a bachelor’s
degree from the University of California – Los Angeles.

Terry A. Reiley is president of the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan (RIM).
Since joining the DMC, Reiley has served as clinical services administrator and
chief operating officer for RIM, as well as president of Michigan Orthopaedic
Specialty Hospital in Madison Heights. Reiley holds a master’s degree from Wayne
State University and a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University
of California. |

Dr. Iris
Taylor has almost 30 years of experience in nursing and hospital
administration, holding various leadership positions at Detroit
Receiving
Hospital and the
Detroit Medical Center (DMC). After serving as the DMC’s chief nursing
officer, and subsequently president of Harper University
Hospital and Hutzel
Women's Hospital, Dr. Taylor was appointed president of Detroit Receiving
Hospital in November 2004. Working with one of Metro Detroit’s
most experienced health care leadership teams, Dr. Taylor has expanded the
capabilities and expertise of Detroit Receiving, creating tremendous growth
within the organization. Dr. Taylor attended Wayne State University, earning
her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing, as well as a doctorate of
philosophy. She also completed her management fellowship at the Wharton School
of Business. |
Lynn M.
Torossian was named president
of Huron Valley-Sinai
Hospital in May 2008. Torossian has been with the hospital
since 2006 as chief operations officer (COO) and vice president of operations
where she has been responsible for recent campus expansion projects, forging
strong relationships with the medical staff and taking a visible role in the
community. She is a business administration graduate of Eastern Michigan University and is a certified public
accountant. Torossian is active in the Michigan Healthcare Executive Group and
Associates and the American College of Healthcare Executives, and was
recently appointed to the Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce Board of
Directors.

John C. Ruckdeschel, M.D. was named president of the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in
October 2002. Ruckdeschel is an internationally recognized clinical investigator
in lung cancer and a cancer control researcher who maintains clinical efforts
and active research in addition to his duties as president. Previously, he
served as president and CEO of the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla. and led
the institution to its first National Cancer Institute Comprehensive
designation. Ruckdeschel earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College
and trained at Johns Hopkins, Harvard and the National Cancer Institute.
